The league was founded to unite Catholic women in a bond of friendship and encourage them to use their talents in the service of the church and the community. The activities of the CWL include; parish work, visiting the sick, ecumenism, social events and support of other charities such as CAFOD. They can also provide information on health care and how to involve the social services. The CWL are committed to helping refugees and asylum seekers. The St Francis de Sales Hartley’s section of the CWL holds cake sales to raise funds for various charities, and provides refreshments for several parish events. The takes part of the “Women’s World day of Prayer”, does raffles twice a year in support to the Parish. The CWL is open to all Catholic women, married or single and regardless of age. They meet every first Tuesday at
2pm in the meeting room. They always welcome visitors and new members so do go along if you would like to see quite what they get up to. .
